We have a rather lovely Chelsea Derby coffee cup decorated in the manner of Edward withers derived from the collection of R H French.

This very attractive coffee cup and saucer consists of a coffee cup extending to a gilded twisted looped handle and a deep trembleuse saucer both of which are decorated with gilt dental edged rims and various flowers including roses tulips and forget-me-nots in the manner of Edward Withers.

The cup is approximately 4.25 inches wide including the handle 2.75 inches high, whilst the saucer has a diameter of 5.5 inches and a height of 1.5 inches. The cup and saucer are both in a very good to excellent condition, there is there is minimal wear to the gilt except a small amount around the inner rim of the trembleuse saucer and there are a few firing faults particularly around the inner rim of the saucer and the upper junctions between the twisted loop handle and the body of the cup. This is a cup and saucer that has clearly spent the majority of it's 250 or so years life in a display cabinet, and would be an excellent addition to any good Chelsea Derby collection
