An early rare striking drum wall antique clock, the 13” diameter silvered and engraved brass dial signed Allam & Caithness, London.

The antique clock has a square plated double fusee movement with anchor escapement.

The imposing mahogany drum case has a turned dial surround, the latched heavy cast brass concave bezel fitted with high-domed antique glass. Surrounding the dial is a narrow brass sight ring. The case has rear and bottom doors to access the pendulum and a brass sound fret at the top, backed with material.

Allam & Caithness succeeded Allam & Clements and are recorded working at 119 Bond Street, London, 1800 – 1805. Many fine antique clocks are recorded being made by them in their short five - year partnership.
