This is a pretty Edwardian Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a Sterling Silver Lid. The glass pot is rectangular with rounded corners. It has hobnail cut decoration around the body and a flat base. The silver lid has embossed scroll and flower decoration surrounding a central blank cartouche and is gilded on the underside.

The pot is made by Boots Pure Drug Company and assayed in Chester in 1909. Founded in Nottingham by John Boot in 1849, Boots The Chemist is now one of the UK's largest and most successful retailers. Between around 1900 and 1925, Boots produced and stocked a wide range of good quality household silverware, primarily, though not exclusively, aimed at female customers. These attractive items have now become popular with collectors.

Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass pot. The silver lid has one tiny ding on the rim and the gilding is in very good condition. Overall there is just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The dressing table pot is 8.4cm / 3.3ins long, 3.5cm / 1.4ins wide and 2.6cm / 1in high. The lid by itself weighs in at 9.7g / 0.34oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the pot weighs 91.8g / 3.2oz.

The hallmarks, nestled amongst the embossed scrolls of the lid, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword & three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the script date letter I for 1909 and the B P D C in a shield makers' mark for Boots Pure Drug Company.
