English 18th Century George II Oak bureau c.1750

In General
A wonderful English 18th Century Oak bureau dated circa 1750 with a fascinating interior!
The large oak writing slope drops down onto pull out oak rests. The writing slope opens out to show a myriad of pigeon holes, doors, drawers and hidden areas!
Inside the bureau there is delightful central door flanked by two pilaster column hidden deed drawers, six pigeon holes and eight drawers all with brass knobs. There are also two hidden shallow drawers with decorative oak fronts. There is also a large well hidden beneath a piece of sliding oak. The front of the bureau has two dummy drawers over three long graduated pine lined drawers with quadrant moulded edges, brass swan neck handles, shaped backplates and escutcheons, on bracket feet.
Maker
Not known
Year
Circa 1750
Material
English Oak
Condition
In overall good solid antique condition. However the bureau has a number of scratches, nicks, dings and marks commensurate with its age and use.
Over time a narrow gap has occurred on the RHS of the bureau in one of the planks of wood which has pushed out slightly causing the inside of the interior of the bureau on the RHS to push in slightly. A narrow gap has also occured across the writing slope in one of the planks of oak. The LHS oak rest has blue ink staining. The RHS dummy drawer has a small piece of missing beading and the two upper drawers on the RHS also have a small area of missing beading. The oak has split slightly on the RHS near where it joins the back. The interior of the bureau has some ink staining that merges in with the aged patina of the oak. The back of the bureau is made up of plain planks of wood which have aged over time.
The keys are missing.
