We are delighted to offer this lovely sunset coastal/seascape oil painting by the noted Italian artist Felice Giordano, who has signed the painting in red in the lower right hand corner and dated it 62, for 1962, two years before his death. The painting depicts a Neapolitan coastal scene, with several small boats moored next to a wooden jetty, with a large fishing with a wheelhouse having just moored up, presumably to offload its catch, judging by the many wheeling seagulls above the boat. The coastal vista extends out to the right of the painting, where a lighthouse is just visible in the distance. This is a lovely, subtle and tranquil painting.

Felice Giordano was born in Naples on 6th January 1880. He studied art in Naples and was further influenced by Antonino Leto, from whom he gained his love of the island of Capri, where he eventually resided. He painted in oils, coastal and marine scenes, landscapes, city scenes and some still life.

He had exhibitions in Rome, Naples, Genoa, Milan and Florence, as well as elsewhere in Europe and the United States, including some prestigious galleries in New York. He died on Capri on 25th August 1964.

He was a prolific artist and there are many of painting visible on the various auction sites, with 553 entries at artprice. His oils achieve high prices and two similar sized paintings to this one achieved £1,875 at Christie's in 2009. There is currently one of his oils on Ebay in Argentina which is priced at US$ 2,600.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3" dark gilt frame which complements it very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
