George II Welsh Oak Dresser Base (c.1750)


This is a great example of a superb quality antique oak north Welsh George II large dresser base (c.1750).

This is a great example of a superb quality antique oak north Welsh George II large dresser base (c.1750). The top of the dresser features a rich oak two plank top with an oak beading to allow you to display plates. The dresser base features three working oak lined drawers of which two have a working lock and key and the remaining a faux lock. The drawers feature the original brass swan neck handles and escutcheons. The sides of the dresser feature raised oak fielded panels (a sign of quality). Below, the drawers there are two outer cupboard doors which surround a blind central section. The doors features shaped Arcadian panels. Both doors feature working locks. Inside the dresser, there is a shaped shelf on the left hand side and the right hand cupboard features a full an exposed interior enabling you to store larger items. The dresser stands on the original shaped bracket feet. The backboards are constructed of pine which is typical for a dresser of this provenance. This dresser boasts a deep rich oak colour which has been created from nearly 300 years of care and is a sought after size.
This dresser is an excellent investment and would look superb in a variety of rooms from the kitchen, hall way or the living room. This dresser base would certainly grace any home. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
This dresser is in superb condition considering the age of this item. One of the drawers has a very old replacement oak drawer bottom. The brass swan neck drawer handles and escutcheons on the dresser are original. The brass door knobs and brass “H” hinges are old replacements. There are no burn or water stain marks to the top which is rare to see for a dresser base of this age. This item is solid in joint and ready to use. Free of woodworm.

We will collect the item using our specialist Furniture Delivery Company to avoid any damage. We will not accept returns via a courier service due to experience of damaged items in transit.
