Superb Georgian mahogany inlaid writing bureau in excellent condition complete with working key. The fall front featuring a shell motif surrounded by delicate string inlay opens to reveal a fully fitted interior decorated with beautiful satinwood inlay. There is two concealed compartment either side of the cupboard door for those more sensitive documents. The small cupboard in the centre with its 6 small drawers and 2 pigeon holes also conceals another small set of drawers. Underneath there is an arrangement of 4 graduating drawers each fitted with oval back plate handles. As with all antique furniture, there are some imperfections, but this is a solid, handsome-looking bureau with wonderful colouring and amazing patination. It is the perfect finishing touch to any study or office.
