Georgian Period Inlaid Mahogany Miniature Bookcase

A stunning and very rare antique Georgian period mahogany bookcase, dating from around the 1790’s period. This is perhaps just about classed as a miniature bookcase due to it’s unusually small proportions, though it is still a very useful size!
It has the cabinet makers mark ‘A. Solomon’ stamped inside the drawer. The quality is absolutely superb, this is a stunning and very charming piece.
The mahogany is inlaid with satin wood throughout, the bracket feet have a wonderful curvaceous design, and this has a fabulous scrolled pediment above the glazed door. There are three deep drawers in the base, one just below the door and also one hidden drawer at the top under the cornice. The brass handles are all original and are also beautifully made.
This comes apart in two pieces for ease of transport. We have just had it cleaned & polished, it is in very good condition for its age, with plenty of charm and a lovely patina.
It’s a very rare item, because of the size & quality. I have never come across a piece like this before.
Please enlarge all the images to see the fantastic fine details, all of which I couldn’t possible describe.
