Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this elegant pair of early 19th century George III period, hallmarked silver Old English Pattern sugar tongs which have a period monogram engraved to the terminal.

This fine pair of was made by the highly regarded firm of silversmiths Urquhart and Hart well known for the wide range of quality silverware including flatware, tongs, teapots and goblets.

Duncan Urquhart was a Scottish Christian and Napthali Hart was Jewish, an unusual partnership at the time, indeed there were very few Georgian era Jewish silversmiths.

This is a fine piece of silver that will be an asset to your silver collection, great for entertaining indoors and outdoors or would be the perfect gift for a loved one, a sustainable gift that does not harm the environment.

This is a highly usable piece of George III period silver tableware ideal for use with either sugar, olives, sweets or ice cubes.

Assay Office: Lacks assay office mark but the Silversmith was registered in London, it is common for small pieces of Georgian silver not to carry a full set of hallmarks.

Year of manufacture: 1807

Weight: 47 grams

Condition report:

In very good condition for its age of 205 years, with age related scratches including the occasional deeper scratch plus some areas of tarnish.
