Glasgow School Arts and Crafts Oak Bookcase Bureau

We have for sale a very decorative arts and crafts late Victorian or early Edwardian bureau bookcase. Perfect as a decorators piece or for use working from home in a stylish home office.
This very striking arts and crafts piece of oak antique furniture can only be described as impactful. It immediately draws the eye and gives the impression of being substantial whilst not actually taking up much space. It consists of carved gallery with a central heart shaped piercing over a shelf to each side each faced by quartered oak panels incorporating art nouveau inspired arts and crafts piercings around a central drop front bureau over a single drawer all over two bookshelves raised on carved bracket feet. Opening the bureau reveals pigeonholes over a simple oak writing surface. The bureau looks very like a Glasgow School piece, possibly manufactured by Wylie and Lochhead.
Despite the imposing nature of this bookcase bureau, it is only 38.5 inches (98cm) wide, 44 inches (112cm) high and 13.25 inches (33.5cm) deep. The drawer of the bureau can easily accommodate a lap top. The bookcase bureau is in a good antique condition, but has had a repair or two including replacement hinges, handles and a repair to the right hand foot. These repairs are reflected in the price. More photographs can be provided on request.
