Inlaid Mahogany Tambour Bureau by Druce and Co.


A fine quality, late Victorian period inlaid mahogany tambour topped bureau by the renowned cabinet makers Druce and Co. of London. Of excellent construction in solid mahogany with attractive fiddle-back mahogany veneers. Cross banded in satinwood and decorated with profuse inlaid detailing in satinwood, boxwood and ivorine. The single drawer opens and in doing so rolls back the tambour top. The writing slope then folds forward and rests in-situ upon the open drawer. Fitted with a sumptuous blue leather writing surface complete with gilt tooled decoration to the surround. There is a series of 3 stationary drawers and the fall further opens to reveal an internal storage compartment. All standing on elegant tapering legs with solid brass mounts to the knees and terminating in solid brass caps. This lovely desk is finished to the sides and rear so could be free-standing within a room if desired. Offered for sale in excellent condition , having been sympathetically refinished in our workshops. Now with a superb colour and finish, ready to go straight into the home.
