Original artwork from 'A Field guide to the British Countryside' (published in 1981).These exquisite paintings of various insects by Alan Male, one of the foremost exponents of this mode of illustration, were specially commissioned by the publisher - from whom we purchased them many years ago.
We have ten 'pages' of these highly detailed and accurate illustrations, the actual hand painted originals from this long out of print and now sought after book. Would prefer to sell them as a set: but willing to discuss the sale of a lesser number. Each measures some seven by ten inches and all but one retain their protective tissue complete with identification, page and instructions. Please refer to internet for CV and biography of Alan Male, long time professor at Falmouth University as well as internationally known illustrator and lecturer.
