A lovely antique French plate, probably originating from a Nevers factory.

The white tin-glazed (faience) ground painted in blue, black and warm grey, depicting a great scene of two figures, one of whom is on horseback, and all set beneath a tree and before a landscape.

This plate probably dates to around 1900.

It is very much in the style of earlier istoriato Italian maiolica.
