John Trotter Pattern Derby Dessert Plate c1820

We have for sale a lovely example of a Regency period John Trotter pattern Bloor Derby dessert plate c1820 -1825.
This lovely Derby plate is decorated to the centre with a large bouquet of naturalistic garden flowers most probably painted by Moses Webster. The central flower arrangement is in turn surrounded by a characteristic broad border with gilt lined asymmetrical panels of chrome green alternating with single flowers on a white ground, all surrounded by a rim detailed with gilt leaves. The base caries a central red Duesbury mark along with a small pattern number 40 close to the foot-rim.
The John Trotter pattern was first used on a service commissioned by John Trotter FRS (1757-1833) in 1820 (see 'Derby Porcelain 1748-1848' by John Twitchet and 'Derby Porcelain: The Golden Years, 1780 – 1830' by Howell GM Edwards and Morgan Denyer). John trotter bought Dyrham Park, Hampshire in 1798 and was the Army Storekeeper General, he was also the founder of the Soho Bazaar (See the FRS Records). The John Trotter service was almost exclusively decorated by the excellent flower painter Moses Webster, although pieces in later versions of the pattern may have been painted by other artists.
The plate is 8.75 inches in diameter and is in an excellent condition with no chips cracks or repairs and almost no wear to the decoration. However, there is some craqueleur to the glaze typical of Derby porcelain of this period.
