A superbly detailed study of a Crampton locomotive from a student of 'Ecole Chretiene' and dated 1883.

A Crampton locomotive is a type of steam locomotive designed by Thomas Russell Crampton and built by various firms from 1846. The main British builders were Tulk and Ley and Robert Stephenson and Company.

The detail and quaility the work suggest this was perhaps by a skilled engineering student of the period. In it's original frame with later back, the study trascends an appreciation of engineering and becomes a highly decorative piece in vivid colours.

Some losses to the original frame.
