Large Italian 18C oak cypress cassone coffer chest
Antique huge cypress cassone coffer.
Believed to be of 18C Italian origins (we are not experts in Italian furniture), made of cypress wood and possibly used as an armourer's chest. As this item is very unusual and rare it has caused us quite a bit of conjecture and we have been unable to fully verify its provenance.
Lovely vast proportions, with a great age and style.
A really nice look, with a great light colour / patina.
This piece of antique furniture would look great in the right location and could make a real statement.
Approximate maximum overall dimensions 2000mmW x 710mmD x 780mmH.
Historical knocks, marks, cracking, repairs and alterations as one would expect, given the age of the piece. There is some historic woodworm that we have treated for good measure. There is no key and the lock is untested (may not be original). We are unsure whether the feet are original.
Please note that this item is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 strong able-bodied persons for our driver to assist with carrying.
