Circa 1910, exhibition quality mahogany ‘jack in the box’ writing desk by Maple & Co. The desk with mahogany 2 part top opens to reveal a rising and sloping writing surface, which then lifts to reveal a storage compartment. There are various sized divisions for letters, pens and envelopes, and a wonderful embossed lock with the name of the company. The desk stands on 4 splayed legs.
