Near Pair Ash And Elm Kitchen Fireside Armchairs

These are a very good pair of period farmhouse kitchen armchairs. They are not quite a pair as there are minor differences between each chair but they are very close and they have spent their lives together so they have aged in the same way and are the same colour.
Each chair is mid Victorian, dating to around 1870 and is of particularly fine quality. The chairs are made mainly in Elm. Elm is a beautiful wood, full of striations. Each chair has a shaped crest rail and shaped ash laths to the back. The saddle seat is in elm, as are the arms and supports. The legs are turned ash.
The chairs are a good large size and the wood is well polished and there is little sign of damage or repair. One old repair to the back of the saddle seat - you won't spot it. No worm.
These chairs are a cut above most chairs of this date and type and it is very unusual to get two so similar that have spent their life together. These chairs could be used in a kitchen but they have enough presence to be used in a sitting room or hallway. Good things.
The first chair back is 43 inches high and the seat is 16 inches high and it is 25 inches across from outside arm to outside arm. The second chair back is 42 inches high and the seat is 17 inches high and it is 25 inches from outside arm to outside arm.
