Oil/Canvas aft. J.F.Lewis Lilium Auratum

We have just discovered that this painting is a three quarter length study, circa 1900, after the famous painting by JOHN FREDERICK LEWIS 1805-1876, which is currently hanging in the Birmingham City Art Gallery. The original is full length and measures 137.2cm x 87.7cm. The artist also painted this scene in watercolours. To view this original painting, search on google.
It is our belief that at some stage this painting was a full length study but has, at some stage in the past, been reduced in size.
We are afraid that, as the artist did not sign the painting, we cannot offer any biographical information. However, this is a lovely painting and would grace any home.
The painting is framed in an ornate 2 3/4" gilt frame and is ready to hang.
