Pair of Luristan iron-age bronze animal figurines

Two small cast bronze figures of a goat and bull animal figurines. Supplied with a modern Perspex display stand.
Luristan area of western Persia: Circa 1200-600 BC.

Very Fine condition good bronze green patination a thin layer of accretions to parts of the surfaces.
Length of the goat 4.6 cms (1.8 ins).
The Luristan peoples were nomadic and animals such as goats, bulls moufflon and gazelle were central to their way of life. The figure was probably a votive offering to some forgotten deity to reflect the importance of their well-being. All our items are supplied with an illustrated certificate of authenticity (COA) which will act as as a guarantee that all items are authentic and dated to the period stated.
