Pamela Davis VPRMS SWA Watercolour Anemones
We are offering for sale this beautifully executed still life watercolour/gouache by the artist Pamela Davis 1927-2019, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts a vase of mixed, colourful flo9wers. The depiction of which is, as is usual with her paintings, executed with painstaking attention to detail. We have identified several flowers, the majority being anemones, but there are also periwinkles, geraniums, a hellebore, gypsophila, some pink flowers we do not know the name of, and some varied foliage.
Pamela Davis earned a scholarship to Twickenham School of Art where she studied commercial art for three years. She worked in a London studio for some years, but in 1970 was able to concentrate on painting her favourite subjects, flowers.
She is a retired Member and former Vice President of the Society of Woman Artists and a Member and former Vice President of the Royal Miniature Society. She won the Gold Memorial Bowl of the Royal Miniature Society in 1991. She is a Member of the Hilliard Society. She was a founder Member of the Society of Botanical Artists. She lived in Sunbury on Thames, Middlesex but more recently in Worthing. She painted in both oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolour and specialised in floral still life, although there are a few landscapes. She sadly died on 25th October 2019 at the age of 92.
There are recent auction results available for her work, including 11 at artprice.com and 14 at arcadja.com.
The painting is newly mounted in two tone acid free mount board and is newly framed in a toning green and gold 1 inch frame. It will be supplied with new brass fittings, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
Image size: 15 3/4 x 13 inches - 40cm x 33cm
Frame size: 23 1/4 x 20 3/4 inches - 50.8cm x 46.35cm
