We are offering for sale this beautifully executed Pastel Portrait of an Eighteenth Century beautiful lady. In the fashion of the times, she has her hair full and powdered, with a couple of ringlets over one shoulder. She is also wearing makeup, probably poisonous, as were most cosmetics of the period. She is wearing a chemise with a white fichu around her shoulders caught at the front by a gold rimmed brooch. By her hair and clothes we would estimate that she is from the 1780s, but probably executed in the late 19th or very early 20th Century..

Unfortunately, other than her description, we know nothing about her, or the artist, as there are no clues on the back or on the frame and the artist is unknown.

The portrait is framed in a 2 1/4 inch gilded, ornate, wooden frame, which is the original. It will be supplied with new brass hangers new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.

Medium: Pastels on thick card

Condition: Very good. There is no damage, the pastel surface is held away from the glass by an inner slip and the frame is in very good condition with no losses.
