Scottish 18CT Gold Pocket Watch, Edinburgh c1822


A very nice, antique, George IV, Scottish, 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by RJ & W Marshall, North Bridge, Edinburgh and dating from c1822.
The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark "WM", the "crown" above "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "g" for 1822/23.
The rear of the case has engine turned engraving with a decorative rim and bezel.
The gold dial has the hours in Roman numerals and engine turned engraving to the centre, complete with a lovely pair of original hands.
The movement is signed by the maker "RJ & W Marshall, North Bridge, Edinburgh" and has the serial number 1046. It has a lovely engraved balance cock and diamond end stone.
It is key wound and set with the key provided.
It measures 44mm in diameter.
The weight is 94.0g
