Set of 8 (6+2) 19C Georgian dining chairs
Antique quality set of 8 (6+2) 19C Georgian oak dining chairs with mahogany crossbanded inlays to the backs.
These are lovely chairs, that are full of age, charm and character, dating from the late 18th or early 19th Centuries. There is a distinct absence of woodworm (maybe just the odd hole if you hunt).
A set of Georgian dining chairs, such as these....with two matching carvers is so rare.
The chairs are heavy, solid and have no loose joints.
Patination to die for and would look amazing in the right location!
Overall maximum dimensions
Chair 48cmW x 45cmD x 89cmH (45cmH seat).
Carver 64cmW x 48cmD x 89cmH (70cmH arms, 45cmH seat).
Historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, repairs and alterations, as is always the way and to be expected with genuine antique furniture. The rush seats are old, but strong and good. Some seats have slightly different gauges/styles of rush to others. Wooden strengthening brackets have been added to the corners of most chair seats, but these are not visible unless the chair or seat is inverted. There is some cracking to the drop in seat frames (that the rush is wrapped around), but these are well glued and strong.
