Silver Collared Walking Stick w/ Horn Handle, 1923

This is a simple but elegant George V Horn Handled Wooden Walking Stick with a hallmarked Sterling Silver Collar. The horn hand grip feels lovely and smooth and is a mottled black colour. The wooden stick is a dark wood beneath an ebonised finish, which is wearing through in places to give an attractive aged patina. The silver collar has foliate engraving to either side of a blank oval cartouche.
The Sterling Silver collar is made in Birmingham by MB Silversmiths and dates to 1923. Founded around 1900, MB Silversmiths specialised in producing silver collars, fobs, badges and the like.
The walking stick has definitely seen some use but is in good condition with no splits or cracks in the wood or the horn handle. There are a couple of dings in the silver collar commensurate with nearly a hundred years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The stick is 80cm / 31.5ins long and weighs 282g / 9.9oz.
The hallmarks on the collar are crisp and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter y for 1923 and the M B makers' mark in separate circles for MB Silversmiths.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Hermes Tracked & Signed Courier.
