This powder compact is a beautiful & practical handbag mirror.
A beautiful fully hallmarked sterling silver powder compact made by Kigu. This compact was assayed at London in 1961. Kigu marketed this compact as 'A dream of a compact for the discerning fitted with a spill-proof inner lid, patented sliding catch to protect finger nails. A most sought-after compact.' This model is the "Venus 70-65" & described thus - 'The combination of two engine turned designs - fine spots and the elegant 'harley' border-is most appropriate. Subdued elegance and classical simplicity displayed to perfection by the jeweller's finish.'
Such a stylish solid silver compact in very good condition. The whole powder compact is protected with an invisible layer of clear enamel which means it will never tarnish or need to be cleaned. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent. The inner lid has an attractive engine turned design & bears the Kigu registered triangular trademark. The compact is hallmarked on the outer case, thumb catch, mirror bezel & interior case. The compact comes with a velvet drawstring pouch to protect it.
This solid silver compact measures just over 3" & weighs 97.2 grams.
