This is a lovely, 19th century, antique antique jewellery or glove box. Its shape and design are unusual. The box is made of burr elm with mother of pearl and walnut wood decoration on the front, top and back. It sits on two feet capped with a mother of pearl fleurette. There are two issues with the box in that there is a small piece of the escutcheon that is missing and at the top of the box there is a piece of the diamond that has been replaced. There is a working lock and original key.
