Victorian Leather-Topped Golden Oak Pedestal Desk
This lovely antique pedestal desk looks to date from around the mid-nineteenth century. It is constructed from oak with a lovely golden finish with an inset leather writing surface. There are four drawers on either side with a central longer drawer. The pedestals are supported on rounded plinth bases. The drawers retain decorative brass handles, escutcheons and locks (except for the centre drawer), although please note that no keys are present.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded, . The leather writing surface is badly worn, stained and discoloured. The desk shows signs of restoration and repair in places. Some of the drawers are stiff.
