Victorian Solid Pine Dresser Base
This antique dresser base dates from the late nineteenth century and is very much in the farmhouse style. It has undergone significant later alteration. The dresser base has two large drawers beneath the top with a long cupboard underneath with two doors and a single half-depth wooden shelf inside. The piece retains handles and locks, but please note that no keys are present. It is supported on a plinth base.
Condition: Overall this piece is in usuable condition but does have some significant wear consistent with age and use. It would benefit from some attention and from being re-finished. There is some heavy scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall marked, stained and faded. It has undergone significant alteration over the years, and has been cut down at some point - only one end is panelled. The top has some warping and shrinkage cracking, and has had sections added to one end. The drawers and doors have some shrinkage and catch on the wooden surround. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
