A fine and decorative oil on canvas in the impressionist manner, English by the artist John VC Anthony. The work depicts the well known view across the Thames to the Palace of Westminster and is worked in bright bold colours and broad brushstrokes. The work is signed in monogram by the artist who Specialised in painting London scenes and places. He also painted the colleges of Cambridge and Oxford. He was an excellent seascape artist and exhibited at The Society of Marine Artists. He lived in Barnet, London, NW11. The work has had a tear professionally repaired and is mounted in a period frame, the whole in good condition. C.1960.
