18th Cent Carved Oak 8 Day Long Case Clock

A handsome 18th Cent longcase clock by Peter Willington, Cambridge. He is listed as working there in the late 18th Cent. The case is in oak and has probably been later carved some time in the 19th Cent. The carving is well executed, nice and crisp and very decorative.
The good quality 8 day, five pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a very attractive brass dial with seconds dial and a working date indicator. It also has the all important strike/silent selector to the arch.
The case is in good unrestored condition but does have the inevitable fine shrinkage crack to the base. The movement is in good working order and keeping exceptionally good time, varying by only a few seconds a day.
The maximum dimensions are:
212cm (83.5") High excluding finial (+7cm)
49cm (19.5") wide
24cm (9.5") deep
