Ebonised & Gilt Decorated Jardinière Stand c.1880 Candelabra Regency candelabra Torchiere %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
The late Victorian period sculpture or jardiniere stand fluted column with gilt-metal adornments in the form of floral swags to the top and architectural batons to each flute the whole having a square platform top on a raised square plinth.

The column is in pretty sound condition for its age. There are the expected areas of wear to the ebonised finish at its extremities whilst there is no loss to the gilt-metal detailing. There is a drilled hole to the centre of the square top, which would have been for a stability rod for the displays of a piece of sculpture.

Examples like this are quite commonly ebonised from this period though we have never seen one with gilt-metal decoration before which makes this particular piece rather more special.

The perfect foil for that special jardinière or sculpture.
