Frederick Boisseree 1870s W/colour Parson's Walk

We are delighted to offer for auction this delightful watercolour by the British artist FREDERICK BOISSEREE, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a landscape scene, probably in Wales, with a country parson, dressed in a long coat and black hat and carrying a stick, taking a walk. He is just walking through a gate to a field and there are some sheep in the distance. The painting has been executed in exquisite detail, with beautiful subtle colouring.
This is one of a pair of paintings by this artist that we are currently listing.
FREDERICK BOISSEREE, active in the 1870s, was a British artist who specialised in watercolour landscapes, mostly of Welsh views. He lived in Betwys-y-Coed in North Wales. He is listed in The Dictionary of Victorian Painters by Christopher Wood and Painters in the Northern Counties of England and Wales by Professor Dennis Child.
There are 19 listings of his auction results on artprice, 20 on findartinfo, 4 on artnet and 15 on arcadja. One of his river views made £500 at Anderson & Garland in Newcastle in 2006. The record for one of his watercolours is £720.
The painting has been newly mounted in acid free mount board to complement and is framed in a 1" gilt frame. It is ready to hang.
