A rare pair of silver table coasters by Garrard &Co. Central crest for the Household Guards Division crest and motto for 1949- 1959. Clear crisp London Coronation hallmarks for the 1953.
Diameter 3.25”(8.2cm)
Weight 140grms
Condition wear appropriate to military use. Origin probably Pirbright to Caterham officers mess.
The Brigade of Guards originally consisted of the Grenadier, Coldstream and Scots Guards. In 1900, the Irish Guards were formed taking the Brigade to four battalions.
In 1915 with the formation of the Battalion of Welsh Guards brought the division to 5 battalions.
The Household Divison officially adopted Quinquennial Juncta In UNO (Five Joined As One) as their motto from 1949 to 1959.
