Rosewood English Dial Timepiece
A rare example of an good original 1840s English dial antique clock with rosewood dial surround, the 12 inch white painted dial signed <i>Shaw, Wellington</i>. The clock has a lovely matching pair of intricate steel hands.
The single train fusee movement has shaped plates.
The convex cast brass bezel is fitted with flat glass, and with an inner silvered sight ring.
Whilst rosewood was used reasonably often for drop dial English dial antique clocks, it is more unusual to see it on a circular cased style.
