Grand Tour Antiques

The Grand Tour (Mid 17th - Early 19th century) was a cultural and educational journey undertaken by aristocratic or wealthy young European men (around 21 years of age), especially from Britain, to explore classical antiquities and the cultural heritage of countries like Italy, Greece, and France. They were typically accompanied by a tutor or family member. As part of their tour they would collect grand tour souvenirs that they would bring back home where they would be displayed as symbols of the owner's education, taste, and social status.
