2 x Edwardian Silver Salts, Miller Bros, 1902

Here we have a distinguished looking Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Table Salts with their Blue Glass Liners. The oval salts are in the Georgian Revival style with ornate scroll handles, pierced scroll decoration and clover leaf motifs. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The salts were made in Birmingham for Miller Brothers of London and date to 1902. Miller Brothers were a high end retailer in Newgate Street in the City of London. They manufactured their own pieces in London and also commissioned items from firms in Birmingham. Founded in the late 1890s, they remained in business until about 1920.
Condition is good, with no dings, dents or damage, just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of use. There are no chips or cracks in the glass liners. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each salt is 8.6cm / 3.4ins from handle to handle, 4.2cm / 1.6ins across the body and 4cm / 1.5ins high. Without the glass liners, they weigh in at a very respectable 64.2g / 2.26oz of solid Sterling Silver and all in they weigh 150.1g / 5.29oz.
The hallmarks, on the outside of the bodies, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter c for 1902 and the M.BROS sponsors' mark for Miller Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £12.00 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the salts.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
