2 x George III Silver Table Spoons, Exeter, 1800

Here we have a fine quality Pair of George III Sterling Silver Table Spoons. The spoons are in the classic Old English pattern with Bright Cut decoration down the fronts of the stems. The initials J M S are elegantly engraved at the tops of the stems.
The table spoons were made in Exeter by noted silversmith Richard Ferris and date to the year 1800. Richard Ferris was active in the city of Exeter from the mid 1780s through to the 1810s, and possibly a little later. He was primarily a spoon maker but did also make occasional pieces of tableware. All his work is of consistently good quality.
Condition is very good, with just a couple of tiny dings in the bowls plus the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 220 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 21.8cm / 8.58ins long and the pair together weigh in at a substantial 109.9g / 3.88oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks are nice and clear on one spoon and somewhat rubbed on the other. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the three towered wall assay mark for Exeter, the George III duty mark, the date letter D for 1800 and the R F makers' mark for Richard Ferris.
Shipping in the UK is £12.50 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
