This is a lovely Pair of Mid-Century Italian 800 Silver Floral Dwarf Tapersticks. These were almost certainly intended for use on a dressing table originally but would look gorgeous in any setting.

The tapersticks were made in Florence by silversmith Giuseppe Banci and date to between 1957 and 1968. Giuseppe Banci registered his mark in Firenze / Florence in 1957. He specialised in small novelty silver items and antique jewellery and remained in business until at least the mid-1970s. The Italian silver marking system changed in 1968 so we know they date to before then.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

Each taperstick is 5.9cm / 2.3ins high with the base measuring 5.4cm / 2.1ins by 4.2cm / 1.6ins. The pair together weigh in at 35.3g / 1.25oz of solid silver.

The marks, on the undersides of the base stems, are necessarily small but can be read with a magnifier. They show the 800 stamp for 800/1000 grade silver and the 312 FI in a lozenge, which is the code for Giuseppe Banci of Firenze (Florence) in use up until 1968.
