2 x Victorian Dressing Table Pots, B'ham, 1900

This is an elegant Pair of Late Victorian Cut Glass Dressing Table Pots with Sterling Silver Lids. The pots are deep cut into diamond shaped panels with dogtooth and star cut decoration and have star cut bases. The lids have embossed scroll decoration surrounding blank cartouches and the undersides are gilded.
The dressing table pots were made in Birmingham by accomplished silversmihs Adie & Lovekin and date to 1900, the last full year of Queen Victoria's long reign. Founded in 1863 by James Adie and Alfred Lovekin, the firm specialised in flatware, fancy goods, silver antique jewellery and particularly sewing related items. Their pin cushions are highly collectable. The original partners passed away in 1913 and 1912 and the firm carried on until around 1930.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass, no dings or dents in the silver and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each pot is 4.5cm / 1.8ins high and 5cm / 1.9ins in diameter. The lids by themselves weigh in at a respectable 16.0g / 0.56oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the pair weighs 153.6g / 5.4oz.
The hallmarks, on the side rims of the lids, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter a for 1900 and the A & L Ld makers' mark for Adie & Lovekin Ltd.
