3 x Victorian Silver Egg Spoons, Elkington & Co

This is a top quality set of 3 Mid-Victorian Sterling Silver Egg Spoons in the Old English Bead pattern. The spoons each have a letter "J" elegantly engraved at the top of the stem.
The egg spoons are made in Birmingham by world famous silversmiths Elkington & Co and date to 1870. As you would expect they are well made spoons in a good gauge of silver.
Egg spoons can be identified by the distinctive shield shaped bowl that distinguishes them from teaspoons in the same pattern. These spoons are perfectly usable today for anyone who enjoys a soft boiled egg or would make a great addition to a collection.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the minimal surface wear that you would expect after 150 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoons are each 11.6cm / 4.6" long and the set of 3 together weighs in at a very respectable 53.7g / 1.89oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "V" for 1870, the Queen Victoria duty mark and the FE makers' mark for Frederick Elkington of Elkington & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
