4x George III Silver Teaspoons, Stephen Adams 1784

This is a good quality set of four George III Sterling Silver Teaspoons in the classic Old English pattern. The spoons have the initials B I E engraved in original 18th century style at the top of the stems.
The set of teaspoons were made in London by silversmith Stephen Adams and date to 1784. There were two Stephen Adams, father and son, whose careers overlapped in the late 18th century and both used the same makers’ marks, so these could be attributed to either one. Stephen Adams (I) registered his first mark at Goldsmiths Hall in London in 1760, with his son Stephen Adams (II) registering in 1784. They both produced fine quality work, primarily in flatware and tableware. Stephen Adams (I) died around 1802, with his son carrying on until around 1815.
Condition is very good, with just a very small ding in the bowl of one spoon and the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after nearly 240 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each teaspoon is 12.1cm / 4.7ins long and the set of four together weigh in at a very respectable 50.0g / 1.76oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the undersides of the stems, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter II for 1784 and the S A makers' mark for either Stephen Adams (I) or (II).
