American Silver Card Case, C1920
This is an american silver card case. The case is of overall plain finish. It has a slider mechanism that pushes open the top lid. This slider mechanism has an amethyst cabochon button.
The card case carries the american stamp "Sterling" for .925 grade silver, a design reference mark (?) of "7302" and the makers mark of "WS" that also incorporates a head image. Our research has identified the makers as the "Warwick Sterling Co". Their mark was registered in 1914, and was used until 1922 after which there is no further record.
(Reference source: The dictionary of American silver manufacturers)
The Warwick Sterling Company were based in Providence, Rhode Island.
The card case measures 8.8 cm (3.4") by 4.5 cm (1.75") by .7 cm (.3"). It weighs 61 grams.
All measurements are approximate.
The silver is in very good overall condition. The lid hinge mechanism works well. There is some light surface scratching commensurate with age, but no nasty dings or dents.
Please study all photos as these form an important part of the description.
Selling price includes free UK postage. For other countries, please contact us for a quote.
