Antique Novelty Silver Pepperette

A fine antique Edwardian sterling silver pepperette, expertly modelled in the form of a bear. The piece features realistic embossed and chased detailing, capturing the texture of the bear’s fur and the character of its features.
The pepperette retains its original fully hallmarked push-fit cover/head, with pierced “pepper” holes on the posterior surface, allowing for functional use while maintaining decorative appeal. It is mounted on a plain circular base, providing stability and display elegance.
• Maker: Crisford & Norris Ltd
• Assay: Birmingham, 1909
• Material: Sterling silver
• Design: Bear-shaped novelty pepperette
• Condition: Very good, with original hallmarked cover intact and detailed chasing preserved
A rare and collectible example of Edwardian novelty silver, combining practical function with exceptional craftsmanship. Such original period pieces are increasingly difficult to locate, making this an important addition for collectors of antique silverware.
