This powder compact is a beautiful & practical handbag mirror.
It is a tradition to present small elegant sterling silver powder compacts as christening gifts to baby girls.
A fully hallmarked sterling silver & rose gold compact made in 1939 by W H Manton & assayed in Birmingham. The lid has a stylish geometric engine turned design & a delightful rose gold thumb catch. A perfect 25th or 50th wedding anniversary gift. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The beveled mirror is excellent & gives a perfect reflection. The whole interior of the compact is beautifully gilded, as is the mirror bezel. The powder compact is in very good condition. A concealed hinge - a sign of a quality. The attractive base is shown on image three.
This solid silver compact measures just over 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" & weighs 103.3 grams.
