Antique Silver CHRISTENING Gifts Vinaigrette c1830
This is an exquisitely beautiful 19th century hallmarked French vinaigrette c.1830. This sterling silver & gilt antique is the most delightful find & it is in remarkably good condition. The background silver has a finely engraved & textured appearance. The center panel has the most intricate floral bouquet. The bouquet & ornate engraving have subtle gliding. The base too is engraved to an exceptionally high standard, the subtle gilding is the perfect finishing touch & this is such an impressive one of a kind gift. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The whole interior is a rich deep gold - the vermeil authentic & vibrant as it was in the 19th century. Exceptionally fine work that we have come to expect from French 19th century silver - the grill...such ornate gilt filigree of scrolls set within two circular bands. Turn over the grill to see one more surprize - so unusual to find the little ancient pad.
As this is both sterling silver & gilt it is suitable for both silver & golden wedding anniversary presentations & it can easily be worn as a pendant.
This silver vinaigrette measures 3.7 cm X 2.7 cm.
