An exceptionally rare French Art Nouveau sterling silver purse made in the 1800s. The purse is large & in the most superb condition possible. No links have come away & the standard of work is of the highest quality. The purse is fully hallmarked silver & the maker is Alfred Lecorazet who was known to be active in 1883. Nineteenth century French silversmiths were the masters of Art Nouveau & this is evident in this magnificent & very beautiful piece. Both sides of the frame match - embossed floral motifs, garlands & musical instruments adorn the frame. In true form with this genre the kiss closure is decorated as two perfect tiny acorns - delightful! All clasps & hinges work perfectly & the whole purse is robust enough to be used as an evening bag. The sterling silver chain handle is fully hallmarked too.

This impressive Art Nouveau silver purse measures 5 3/4" wide & just over 6" from the bottom of the bag to the top of the tip of the acorns. The chain handle stands 8" tall. The purse weighs 174.2 grams.
