An ornate, beautiful and fully hallmarked sterling silver chatelaine purse with a sterling silver divided inside so that it has two separate compartments. This ancient little purse is in superb condition. There is such great attention to every detail, both sides of the purse are equally beautiful & so too is the interior. The frame is unmistakably Art Nouveau & has embossed floral motifs, swags and four embossed manticore heads. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The purse is hallmarked in three different locations and includes the maker's mark too. The purse is ancient but does not look like it has ever been used. On the shield cartouche the initials are so ornate they form part of the design. So ornate is it hard to see them as initials.Measures 8 cm X 5 cm. Weighs 37.8 grams.
