Art Deco Silver Hand Mirror, Mappin & Webb, 1929

This is a stylish Art Deco Sterling Silver Hand Mirror. The mirror section is broadly rectangular with scalloped corners and the handle is tapered. The back of the mirror has engine turned stripes around a circular central cartouche, which bears an engraved monogram of the letters C, R and G.
The hand mirror is made in Birmingham by world famous silversmiths Mappin & Webb and dates to the height of the Art Deco era in 1929. Mappin & Webb had bases in Sheffield and London and also manufactured in Birmingham. Today they remain one of the foremost names in silver and antique jewellery and their mark is always a guarantee of a quality product.
There are some very shallow dents and a few tiny dings in the back of the mirror and down the handle but overall condition is good. There is some faint clouding to the glass but it still gives a clear and accurate reflection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The mirror is a good size, measuring 24.8cm / 9.7ins from top to bottom and 12.7cm / 5ins across. It weighs in at 300g / 10.5oz.
The hallmarks on the side of the frame are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter E for 1929 and the Mn Wb makers' mark for Mappin & Webb.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the mirror.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
