Art Deco Silver Salt & Pepper Shakers, B'ham, 1937

Here we have a wonderfully stylish set of Art Deco Sterling Silver Salt & Pepper Shakers. The shakers have elegant slender bodies tapering out from a narrow base with stepped lids. They have no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The shakers are made in Birmingham by S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd and date to 1937 at the very height of the Art Deco era. Blanckensee were a family run firm of silversmiths who were in business from the 1880s up until the start of the Second World War.
Condition is very good with no salt corrosion and only the superficial surface you would expect after this period of time. The lids fit securely for shaking salt and pepper onto your food. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Both shakers are 3.7cm / 1.4ins in diameter across the top of the body. The salt is 7cm / 2.7ins high and the pepper is 8.2cm / 3.2ins high. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 62.3g / 2.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the sides of the bodies are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter N for 1937 and the S.B & S. Ld makers' mark for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the two shakers.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
